New Cloud-Based Features Provide Efficiency and Mobility to Law Practices
NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – December 16, 2014 – CosmoLex announced today the release of version 2.3 of their popular legal practice management software. This free update offers three important new features: pre-defined workflows, case document management, and case notes.
Many legal specializations such as divorce, estate planning, and real estate follow a standard set of tasks for each case. For example, a family law practice might have pre-defined workflows for a divorce without children, a divorce with children, an adoption and so on. Setting up dozens of tasks by hand for each matter is time-consuming. CosmoLex users are now able to create default lists of tasks that can be easily added to new or existing matters. This will standardize and streamline practice operations as well as improving docket control.
Document management is essential to a successful law practice. In the past, that meant rooms full of carefully organized file cabinets, but today that means the ability to organize digital records around legal matters within the firm’s practice management software. Version 2.3 of CosmoLex integrates with Dropbox, currently the most popular cloud-based document sharing service, to provide flexible and robust document administration. Attorneys can use CosmoLex to organize files by matter and access those files securely from any location with an internet connection. CosmoLex is also adding integration with other cloud-based storage services in future versions.
Finally, the new edition of CosmoLex adds case notes, freeform note fields attached to each matter that make it easy to document information such as logs of conversations with clients or prospects, details about a particular expense, or additional information on a contact’s relationship to a case. Case notes provide important additional documentation to a matter and can be critical to creating a comprehensive audit trail in case the matter needs to be reviewed later.
“This is one of the most significant updates of CosmoLex in the software’s history, and offers tools that will allow small law firms to operate more efficiently and profitably than ever,” says company CEO, Rick Kabra. “Our relentless focus on a developing simple yet robust technology to help small law firms succeed is why CosmoLex is in use by attorneys in nearly every state and in multiple countries.”
The features added in version 2.3 have been designed to work alongside CosmoLex’s other practice management features such as trust (IOLTA) accounting, docket control, contact management and team calendaring. The new version of CosmoLex will be available to subscribers as soon as they log in.
